Overall goal of this exclusive event was the exchange of valuable knowledge on PVR rollouts and usage. Furthermore the broad market introduction of corresponding devices in Germany was at the heart of discussions. Major players of hardware industry, broadcasting organisations, network operators, media agencies, software companies and application providers took the chance to present their future plans and also to contribute to fruitful discussions about the outlook of PVRs.
Beyond more detailed analysis of experts on problematic aspects of PVRs like the technical capability to fastforward or even skip commercials, the symposium managed to deliver a broad range of information also encouraging the industry to understand PVR's technology as the next generation to customer convenience.
Keynote speaker Prof. Duane Varan from Murdoch University , Perth , Australia , highlighted the high effectiveness of PVR-based advertising campaigns related to traditional linear advertising. thebrainbehind forecasts over 14 million PVRs and PVR-enabled receivers in Germany by 2008.
